QR Code Fun!

I have never personally used QR Codes in a classroom setting but I do find that concept very interesting! I think that with as popular as QR Codes are in today's world, incorporating them into an educational setting just makes sense.

Now, in order for any QR activity to work, you would need enough QR readers available for student use. This could prove to be a challenge since sometimes that technology is not available. Also, most likely younger students wouldn't necessarily have SmartPhones on them as frequently as older students would.

Still, there are so many fun ways to utilize this technology. To find QR reader apps for SmartPhones, you can try one of the following sites:

To create your own QR codes, try one of the following sites below:
Once you've explored these sites, feel free to create your own fun! If you'd like to try out an activity using QR codes, before you begin creating your own, try out these FREE Resources listed below! Enjoy!

Testing Tips & Tidbits

Just like many other schools across the country, our state testing begins this week. Anymore, that seems to be what schools focus on all the time, all year long. Sad isn't it?

Regardless of the heavy testing focus, schools are still required to administer these high stakes tests. Students are very aware of their importance, and just like on any other test, they can become anxious or nervous.

Thus, it's important to be even more positive with students this time of year. There are great motivational ideas and testing tips out there to help with this.

I am sharing a few of these below. If you have any other ideas, feel free to share! We'd all love to hear them!

Good luck to everyone on their state testing!

Marching in with Leprechauns

I cannot believe it is almost March already! Where does the time go?
It's time to start thinking ahead about St. Patrick's Day. Many of us have Spring Breaks coming up, too, so it's important to plan ahead if we want to incorporate any St. Patrick's Day activities into the classroom.
Below I am including links to many free activities that I have found recently, regarding either March or St. Patrick's Day. I hope they are useful to many!

Be on the lookout soon, too, for a freebie or giveaway of some kind to celebrate my blog hitting 25,000 views!

Have a great day!

Math + Technology= Fun!

Math can be a subject that many kids struggle with. It's always one that I liked to "jazz up" any way that I could when I was a classroom teacher.

Nowadays, integrating technology into your math lessons or as a supplement, can really be helpful for both student engagement and  enhancing skills.

Create a Graph is a fantastic tool to use either in the classroom or in the computer lab. It allows students to create graphs of all shapes, sizes, and types. They have to enter their own labels and data as well. This would be a fantastic tool to use during a graphing unit. Of course, graphs are also found in other subject areas such as Science or Social Studies, so this site could be a useful supplement for those as well.

Math Game Time is an EXCELLENT site to use in the classroom! Not only are there worksheets and online games available, but there are also videos. This site is also nice because it is broken down by grade levels. These could be used as part of a lesson, or as supplemental items. This would even be a great site to use in Math Centers.

Count Us In has great games and activities to use for various Math concepts and grade levels. The students will enjoy the games while the teachers will find many useful ideas. Again, these games would be great in a Math Center!
