10 Fun, Free, Fall Finds!
I don't know about the rest of you, but I really Love Fall!! Even though I greatly dislike cold weather, I really enjoy hoodies, bonfires, crisp air, colorful leaves, and pumpkins!
With that in mind, I decided to look for some Free activities to use in the classroom...all of which have an Autumn theme!

Online Resources to Help Avoid the "Summer Slide"
As a teacher, one of the big frustrations at the beginning of every school year, is having to reteach skills to students that were taught to them at the previous grade level.
While it's nice to have summers off, it really can "hurt" students in terms of the academic knowledge that can be lost.
It's vital to let parents know the importance of reading, practicing basic math facts, etc. during the summer months. The more they engage in these type of activities, the more they'll retain.

Pinteresting Digraphs...and a Request
Recently I began tutoring a little girl. She is super sweet! It seems that one of the main areas that I am seeing her struggle with are digraphs (blends). Thus, I decided to look up some great resources to help me help her. Below are links to many Pinterest resources regarding Digraphs.

No Frozen Brains!
With winter breaks quickly approaching at most schools, it's important to keep kids sharp in their skills. We definitely do not want "Frozen Brains" upon returning to school in January.
Many teachers do send home great packets of worksheets and activities with their students, so that they can keep working on their skills during their 2-3 week long break.
However, some kids might also benefit from online games or activities to also help with those needed basic skills for school. Below are links to a few sites that will help students have fun and learn at the same time. All of these sites are FREE!

All Aboard...for TpT Freebies!!
I LOVE the Polar Express! I love the book best, but the movie is pretty good, too. I also enjoy sharing in the Holiday classic with my own children. It's such a great tale!

Summer Reading Programs for Kids
It's so important that children of all ages continue to read over the summer months. Even if your children are not old enough to read on their own, such a my two kids, they can still benefit by being read to by someone else.
Below are 5 different Summer Reading Programs available for kids. Most of them offer incentives such as free books or pizza for completing the goals of the programs. I know I plan to sign my kiddos up for at least a couple of these.

Sites to Help Review Basic Skills
As many schools and districts around the country gear up to start their state testing, many classrooms are trying to get in those last minute reviews and study sessions over the basic skills that they could be tested over. I know that our state testing starts next week.
