Free Online Christmas Fun!
When I taught Elementary Computers, I would always try to give the kids a break near a holiday. I would allow them to play Holiday Games via my Live Binder site! Of course, if a child didn't celebrate a certain holiday they were given other options. I also didn't limit them to Christmas games at Christmas, or Halloween games at Halloween, etc. They were allowed to play any Holiday or Season related game. The kids LOVED it!
In addition to the sites on my Live Binder, here are some other sites with some great games for Christmas!

Digital Citizenship
"Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps teachers, technology leaders and parents to understand what students/children/technology users should know to use technology appropriately."
This a VERY important topic to instill in children in today's society. It's important that they are aware of the proper ways to interact online. When I taught elementary computers, we would revisit this and Internet Safety a few times a year. I always told my students that just because you're "hiding" behind a computer screen doesn't mean that the rules of safety, courtesy, and anti-bullying don't apply.
I am including the links below to many resources to help teach this concept to students. It's never too early to teach them how to be safe online.

Best Ed Tech Sites for Kids!
I'm sure we could all name at least 5 websites that are great for kids! They are educational, safe, and fun. While we all have our favorites, it's sometimes hard to "weed through" all of the many sites out there to figure out which ones are truly "good" for kids.

QR Code Fun!
I have never personally used QR Codes in a classroom setting but I do find that concept very interesting! I think that with as popular as QR Codes are in today's world, incorporating them into an educational setting just makes sense.
Now, in order for any QR activity to work, you would need enough QR readers available for student use. This could prove to be a challenge since sometimes that technology is not available. Also, most likely younger students wouldn't necessarily have SmartPhones on them as frequently as older students would.

Online Halloween FUN!
When I taught Elementary Computers, I always tried to allow my students some fun times in the lab around each holiday. I also gave them options so that if they did not celebrate certain holidays, then they could still have fun with their classmates! They loved it!

Preschool Fun Online!
It's important in today's technological world, to at least expose kids to online learning and fun before they enter kindergarten. This will allow them to not only learn how to use a computer but also expose them early to necessary reading and math skills.
My own kids love technology! I try to limit how much they use, however, I love that they enjoy learning!
Below are some great sites that are completely appropriate and easy for the little kiddos in our lives! If you have any more, feel free to share those as well! I'm also including some general resources for Preschoolers.

Elementary Computer Lab Bulletin Board
Last year, I made my bulletin board outside of my computer lab into a giant Pinterest Board! Each of the boards on my page showcased work by the different grade levels, contained objectives, or involved teacher favorites.
Because I only saw classes so often, I usually tried to change my board quarterly. Last year, I taught grades K-4.

Create, Sell, Earn Money!
I have always maintained that teachers are each other's best resources. I have found that to be increasingly true in recent years with the involvement of social media.
Many of us follow blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, Pinterest boards and more that are FULL of so many great teaching ideas and resources. These are all usually ideas that someone, somewhere has actually tried and tested in a classroom. As a worldwide community of educators, we are always so kind and helpful towards each other and are willing to share in whatever way that we can.
With that said, we also deserve to reap some benefits from all of our hard work and ideas.
Most of us know and participate in Teachers Pay Teachers online. I am forever grateful to the former co-worker who introduced me to it years ago, before the really big "hype" set in. I love the extra income, no matter how big or small the amount may be!
Many of us are also aware and participating in Teacher's Notebook online. While I have not added as many products to my TN site as I should have, it's still a growing store for me and does give me a bit of extra income every so often.
However, I was unaware until within the past few weeks, that there are other similar sites out there for educators to sell their products. I have yet to list anything on a few of these, but I plan to in the very near future.

Starting the Year in the Elementary Computer Lab
Besides the obvious tasks of going over procedures, rules, and expectations for the computer lab, I would always do some of these other basic tasks and activities with the students as well at the beginning of each new school year.

Grades K-1
Many of these students may have never used a computer before. Thus, they need to learn the basic skills of using a keyboard and a mouse properly. I have many links on my Live Binder site via the Purple tabs. However, here are a few sites that I love to begin with for this age group:
Grades 2-5

KC Tech Net Conference: Part 2
So, now on to Part 2 of the list of new sites I learned about via the KC Tech Net conference back in February. Below I am including many multimedia and student resource tools. So far, the only site that I've actually been able to use with my students, is Wonderopolis. I used it today with 2nd grade and they loved it! Please check out that site if you are unfamiliar with it. It's great! I will post more soon about how I used it with my students.

Loving Lino!!
So, last week I decided to try an interactive site with my 1st graders. I was a bit worried as we had never used a site like this before at the 1st grade level, but I felt confident with my students' abilities, so we tried it out.
The site is Lino. It's an interactive bulletin board where you can post sticky notes, pictures, etc. I set up a board for my 1st graders (very easy to do; no sign up is required), and posed the question, "What is your favorite website?". I decided to focus on a simple question this time because I was more interested in them focusing on the task of using an online, interactive tool. This site could definitely be used at multiple grade levels for endless topics!
Well, let me say that my 1st graders ROCK!! They blew me away by how well they did and how much fun they had! They were amazed at the fact that their friend could be sitting on the other side of the room, on a different computer, yet their friend's sticky note showed up on their own computer!!
If you have never tried this site, I highly recommend it! It's so simple to use. The one drawback is that many times the sticky notes ended up on top of each other by mistake, but that was an easy fix. I simply just went back in as me, and I was able to easily unstack them.
I took some screenshots of their answers and posted them below. I have disabled the page I set up for them so that only I can see it now. I did this for their privacy and so as to not have any more sticky notes added to it by outsiders.

Legit or Not? How can you tell?
I know that one of the areas that is hard for me to explain to students, is how to tell if a website is legit or not. I know ways to tell, but it's hard for me to convey that message in a way that they will understand.
Luckily, after doing some searching and reading, I have found multiple resources to help me teach this skill. I am most likely going to teach this to my 3rd graders next week. It's a very valuable skill to learn and use, especially as students get older. They will be doing more and more research online so it will important that they are aware of how to find accurate and valid information.
